Many of our patients have been referred to us by dentists. The Westchester Center for Periodontal Excellence has a stellar reputation among practitioners! If you require an evaluation relating to the placement of dental implants, an oral and dental exam will be completed. Your dentist will have provided our office with X-rays or instructed you to bring them with you on your first appointment.
"Periodontal disease is caused by specific bacteria. Thanks to culture techniques which we have been using for a number of years, we are able to identify which bacteria are present in high enough numbers to cause periodontal disease. One of the main reasons why periodontal disease continues to occur despite the treatment and good oral hygiene is that these bacteria exist in higher than normal levels. Our culturing technique allows us to find out which bacteria is present and leads us to appropriate antibiotics to help in the treatment and elimination of periodontal disease." - Dr. Victor Sternberg, D.M.D., PC
After periodontal disease, roots are often exposed and patient aesthetics are compromised.
By moving the teeth using State-of-the-Art Technology and implementing ceramic crowns, Dr. Sternberg and his team are able to close the gap!
Before you embark on a dental treatment program you are contemplating or you require dental care, we would be happy to provide you with an Independent Oral and Dental Evaluation. Our years of experience, extensive teaching background and technology, will provide you and your dentist with meaningful information and guidance.
We are experts in saving teeth, but that's not all we do! We save teeth, we save bone, we save implants and we save gum structure. This has been the primary force in periodontology and most especially Dr. Sternberg's practice.
...and ends with patients treated according to their needs.
Treatments range from non-surgical periodontal therapy to sophisticated techniques to rebuild missing bone.
Although implants are a necessary and vital part of dentistry, most patients would rather save their own natural teeth if at all possible. We are the only specialty able to formulate a complete and comprehensive diagnosis, prognosis and treatment plan. This is the uniqueness of our training. When implants are necessary, we create healthy soft tissue and bone as well as translate it into the placement of successful implants. Implants need a trained periodontist who is able to preserve the structures supporting the implants.
Dental phobias or anxiety about dentistry is one of the main reasons individuals do not seek dental care. The experience I had when I served as a Captain in the U.S. Army treating young men who had never been to a dentist enabled me to learn how to manage anxious patients since many of these young men were more frightened of a dental injection than they were of an enemy bullet.
I brought that knowledge to my practice and have endeavored to provide our patients with painless, gentle and very humane care.
To minimize patient anxiety, we often use mild oral sedation which can be combined with laughing gas or nitrous oxide to create a very relaxed state in a patient who otherwise would be very anxious having any dentistry done, let alone a surgical procedure.
Using this approach, we've treated thousands of patients; an overwhelming number having had a painless and relaxed experience. Do not let anxiety or even phobias keep you from being evaluated and treated. In the year 2017, it is no longer necessary to avoid dental and/or periodontal treatment.
Many years of practicing have strongly inculcated into my practice the concept of treating relaxed patients in a painless environment. One of the greatest, if not the greatest, deterrents to seeking dental care is fear of discomfort and the anxiety associated with that care. Unfortunately, avoiding necessary dental procedures becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy in the sense that problems develop that require more serious and often invasive procedures to correct.
In order to facilitate the comfort of our patients both emotionally and physically, we have developed and employ many techniques to enhance relaxation and provide pain-free care.
Among those techniques are:
These techniques plus our compassionate staff have made it possible to treat many patients who otherwise would be too anxious to seek dental care and maintain their dental health.
Do not let anxiety or fear deter you. Our office is well equipped and has successfully treated many patients who have had similar concerns. We used to have a sign in the office indicating that we cater to cowards and that continues to be our mantra.
